In a midnight maneuver to safeguard lives and bolster traffic safety, the Lagos State Government is set to divert traffic at the Ojuelegba flyover bridge on Monday, October 2, 2023.

The move comes as part of the ongoing battle to repair the damaged truck barrier on the bridge, a hotbed of accidents.

This tactical night-time closure, running from 10 pm to 6 am, reflects the government’s commitment to preventing further mishaps, a mission intensified since the ban on trucks and articulated vehicles from the Dorman Long and Ojuelegba bridges earlier this year.

The government’s Traffic Management Agency is on high alert to ensure compliance and reduce accidents plaguing this crucial corridor.

As the repair work gets underway, commuters will be rerouted to alternative paths, providing a vital lifeline for those navigating this vital stretch of Lagos.

Motorists from various entry points are urged to exercise patience and adapt to these new routes, reinforcing the government’s commitment to securing lives and property on its roads.

The events that unfolded on January 29, 2023, where a tragic accident claimed nine lives when a container-laden truck toppled onto a commercial bus in the Ojuelegba area, remain a stark reminder of the urgent need for these measures.

Lagos is determined to reshape its roads for safety and security, one-midnight repair at a time.
