Karim Benzema scored a late winner as Real Madrid came from two goals down on Sunday night to beat Sevilla and close in on the La Liga title.

Sevilla scored twice in the first half through Ivan Rakitic’s free-kick and Erik Lamela’s close-range strike but the visitors pulled one back early in the second half through King of the Match winner Rodrygo before substitute Nacho drove in an equaliser late on.

Then France striker of Algerian descent Benzema continued his scoring streak as he completed the remarkable turnaround in stoppage time.

The striker’s 39th goal of the season sent Madrid 15 points clear at the top of LaLiga and on the verge of the La Liga title.

Sevilla sit third, behind Barcelona on goal difference having played two games more.

Barcelona will face Cadiz 8pm Nigerian time on Monday night.
