The incident reportedly occurred last week, gaining attention after a video of Ikwechegh went viral on social media. In the video, the lawmaker allegedly threatened Abuwatseya, saying, “You don’t know who you’re dealing with. I can make you disappear without a trace.” This footage triggered public outrage and calls for action.

Deji Adeyanju, counsel to the Bolt driver, confirmed the court appearance, noting that “the law should apply equally, and no one is above it.” Adeyanju emphasized the importance of justice in cases like these, where power dynamics often complicate accountability.

Ikwechegh’s case has also drawn the interest of the House Ethics Committee, which is expected to assess any disciplinary measures. This assault case underscores a growing conversation about accountability among public figures and how these incidents are managed within the legal system.
