Jubilation In Ekweremadu's Home Town As Wife, Beatrice, Returns From UK Prison

There is wide jubilation in the hometown of the wife of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, following the return of his wife, Beatrice, from a United Kingdom prison.

Mrs Ekeweremadu, who reportedly returned to Nigeria on Tuesday, is currently in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Videos shared on social media showed women dancing in a market in Ekweremadu’s home town, Mpu, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State in celebration of the return of Beatrice.

Prime Business Africa recalls that in 2023, Beatrice, the husband and a medical doctor, Obinna Obeta, were sentenced to prison in the UK for their involvement in an organ harvesting case.

They were found guilty of attempted organ harvesting of Nigerian trafficked to the UK to provide a kidney for their sick daughter.

While Senator Ekweremadu was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, his wife was handed four years and six months jail term. As Beatrice returned, her husband is still serving prison terms.

As the people celebrated the Ekweremadu’s return, they also prayed for the lawmaker’s return in no distant time.
