Jesus, Havertz On Target As Arsenal Return To Premier League Summit

Arsenal ended the matchday 14 of the Premier League on Sunday evening back at the top of the table with 39 points after their 2-0 win against Brighton Hoves Saturday evening and Albion at the Emirates stadium and Liverpool’s goalless draw against Manchester United.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz handed the Gunners all three points at the Emirates in a game they dominated albeit Brighton almost got an equaliser before Havertz’ winner in the second half.

Brighton were seeking a fourth consecutive win at the Emirates witb James Milner’s early tackle on Bukayo Saka setting the tone for a high octane first half as Arsenal had 11 shots to none for Brighton and earned two yellow cards to one.

Ben White received a yellow card for pulling Karou Mitoma as the Seagulls went for the counterattack.

Brighton made the game niggly as the duo of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus were at the receiving end of several tackles but tjdkr manager Mikel Arteta also got a booking for ‘waving his hands in the air’ whi h was his fourth yellow card of the season.

Jesus stooped low go head home the ball from a corner kick while substitute Eddie Nketiah found Havertz from a blistering counterattack for the back-breaking goal.

Arsenal’s next Premier League game is a December 23 clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

Liverpool were unable to secure a win and go top of the log following their 0-0 draw against Manchester United decimated by injuries and suspensions.
