The Will of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, revealed how his properties will be shared among his immediate family and chosen beneficiaries.

A provision in Iwuanyanwu’s Will, which was made public on 16 June 2025, stipulated that the wife is forbidden from remarrying after the passing of the elder statesman.

Chief Iwuanyanwu, who died on 28 August 2011, was married to his first wife, Lady Eudora Nnenna Ozinyereaku Iwuanyanwu, for more than 40 years.

At 72 in 2013, the politician and businessman married another wife, Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem, who was 26 at the time. He passed away on 25 July 2024 at the age of 82.

Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN) revealed the Will, which outlined the distribution of the renowned businessman’s wealth among his immediate family and selected beneficiaries.

One of the notable clauses in the Will is the gift of the iconic “Legacy House” located on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri to Frances. She is, however, specifically prohibited from selling the property.

In addition to the house, she also inherits ownership of Magil Furniture, which was formerly owned by Eudora, Iwuanyanwu’s late first wife, and shares in real estate holdings in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze, all of which are in Imo State.

According to the Will, Frances will immediately lose all of these inheritances if she decides to get married again. The family’s home in Abuja is passed down to the couple’s son. The proceeds from the sale of the London property will be divided as follows: 60% will go toward Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son’s education, 30% will go toward his first son, Jide, and 10% will go toward helping the current occupant, Ezinne, move.

Iwuanyanwu gave the order to turn the “Glass House” by the Owerri flyover into a public trust.

The use of the property for philanthropic and neighbourhood-focused projects will be supervised by an independent board. Iwuanyanwu’s five children have been fairly distributed other valuable assets located in Abuja, Imo, and other places in Nigeria.
