Antony equalised 10 minutes later in what was his third goal in third consecutive match for the Red Devils with assist from Anthony Martial.

Casemiro came close to putting United ahead with a glancing header in the Toffees penalty area but his effort went narrowly wide off target,

Cristiano Ronaldo then made it 2-1 a minute before halftime when he latched onto a through pass from Casemiro who intercepted Alex Iwobi’s attempted pass.

The strike was Ronaldo’s 700th club goal of his career.

Marcus Rashford the better of Iwobi in the second half and skipped past the duo of James Tarkowski and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford but his eventual goal was ruled out by VAR as the ball hit his hand before he scored.

United rose to 5th place in the Premier League table after the game while the Toffees stayed in 12th place on 10 points.

United were humbled 6-3 by Manchester City in their last Premier League match in the Manchester derby. They have also won twice in the Europa League.
