Following the ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group, the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), has chosen Turkey as a destination for the 2024 pilgrimage.

The Executive Secretary, NCPC, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam, made this known on Tuesday at the Commission’s 3rd annual General Staff Retreat organised in Jos.

Prime Business Africa reports that the NCPC had in October announced the suspension of all pilgrimages to Israel and Jordan as a result of the ongoing war between Israelis and Hamas.

Prior to that announcement, the NCPC was scheduled to fly intending pilgrims to Amman, Jordan, to stay there for four days before traveling to Israel, but the trip was cancelled due to the conflict that arose.

Rev. Pam said a team from the Commission had visited Turkey to explore Christian holy sites in the Middle-East country and thereafter decided to add it as one of the latest pilgrim destinations.

“A team from the Commission visited Turkey this year and even last year to exploit a Christian holy site in the Middle-East country. Expectedly, the Concluded to include Turkey as one of the latest additions to our pilgrimage destinations,” Rev. Pam said.

He stressed that the retreat is part of the Commission’s strategic plans for leadership transformation and productivity.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support to the Commission so far. He also assured that the welfare of staff of the Commission would be his number one priority.

Plateau State governor, Caleb Muftwang, who declared the retreat open, said his administration attached great importance to the spiritual lives of the citizens and pledged to continue supporting pilgrimage activities in the state.
