IPMAN Seeks Dangote Refinery's Partnership For Direct Product Allocation, Eases Concerns Over Petrol Stability

National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, has disclosed the association’s bid to secure a direct allocation of products from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Maigandi emphasized the necessity for IPMAN to receive a share of the refinery’s output due to their extensive coverage of over 80% of Nigeria’s retail outlets.

“We want to partner with him so that he can give us allocation to give to our marketers,” Maigandi said, highlighting the desire for collaboration between IPMAN and the refinery. Despite the festive season potentially delaying responses, Maigandi expressed optimism about a meeting with the refinery’s management now that the holidays have ended.

While the refinery prepares to commence production with a required stock of six million barrels of crude oil, Maigandi mentioned that the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) petrol market remains stable, albeit with transportation challenges due to outstanding debts from the defunct Petroleum Equalisation Fund.

Calling upon the Federal Government to settle these outstanding debts, Maigandi stressed their significance in ensuring smooth product distribution across the nation.

He also outlined the pricing discrepancies at private depots compared to NNPC’s rates, emphasizing the need for resolution in the transportation sector to alleviate the challenges faced by marketers.

The Dangote Refinery, having received its fifth one-million-barrel shipment and awaiting a sixth, remains at the center of IPMAN’s focus as they seek collaboration for effective and widespread product distribution in Nigeria.
