Investors Lost Over N24.80 billion In Stock Market, BUA Cement, Others Gain

Nigerian stock market lost N24.80 billion on Tuesday in its equity capitalisation, dragging it down to N26.60 trillion.

The loss represents -0.09 per cent decline in the market capitalisation which had closed the previous day with N26.63 trillion.

It followed the decline in All-Share Index, which shed 45.54 basis points, to move from 48,899.08 ASI to 48,853.54 ASI.

On the exchange floor, investors exchanged 162.97 million shares, worth N3.87 billion, in 3,286 deals.

Investors increased their investment level when compared to the 236.58 million shares, worth N2.51 billion, traded in 3,334 deals on Monday.

Top five gainers

Smart Product Nigeria share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.20kobo to N0.22kobo per share

Cornerstone grew by 8.70 per cent, up from N0.46kobo to N0.50kobo per share

BUA Cement ended trading with N95 from N91.70kobo per share, rising by N3.30kobo.

FTN Cocoa gained 3.23 per cent to end trading at N0.32kobo, having opened with N0.31kobo

Zenith Bank stock was up by N0.55kobo, closing with N23 from N22.45kobo per share.

Top five losers

SCOA depreciated by 9.30 per cent, dwindling from N0.86kobo to N0.78kobo per share.

Chams also fell by 8.70 per cent to end trading at N0.21kobo, after opening with N0.23kobo per share.

Jaiz Bank followed the same path, losing 8.42 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.87kobo from N0.95kobo per share.

Lasaco reported a decline of 6.67 per cent from previous day’s share price of N0.90kobo to end trading at N0.84kobo per share.

UPL share depreciated to N1.73kobo from N1.83kobo, after losing N0.10kobo during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

Sterling Bank reported 31.61 million shares valued at N43.02 million were traded on its floor

GTCO recorded 19.20 million shares valued at N403.28 million

Chams saw investors trade 16.42 million of its shares valued at N3.50 million

Zenith Bank recorded 14.18 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N323.61 million

MTN Nigeria reported 12.45 million shares valued at N2.59 billion exchanged investors’ hands.
