Less than four days to the governorship and State Assemblies elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, Dr. Nura Ali.
This was revealed in a letter with no INEC/SCE/442/V.II addressed to the Resident Electoral Commissioner and the Administrative Secretary in the state.
According to the letter, Dr Ali’s suspension takes immediate effect. He was asked to stay away from the Commission’s office in Sokoto State until further notice, while the administrative secretary, Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa is directed to take full charge of all activities including the pending election.
