INEC Official Asks Voters To Cast Unsigned Ballots In Trans-Ekulu Enugu

As results from Nigeria’s presidential election trickle in, voting is still taking place at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) at TRANS-Ekulu, Enugu State.

Prime Business Africa gathered that voting started at about 1 p.m. as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials came very late to the polling centre.

Speaking with our Correspondent, a voter who has not cast her vote as at 9:30 p,m., said: “I have been here since 8 a.m. to cast my vote. The officials came late and still took time to set up the equipment for voting.”

She also lamented that one of the official signing the ballot papers left for her house even though people have not voted but ballot papers got finished.

“The officials told us to continue voting and when we told them we can’t vote on papers that have not been signed, they said no problem, our votes will still count,” she said.

The Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu assured Nigerians that as far as they came to the polling unit before the closing time of voting which is 2:30 P.M. they will vote no matter how many hours it takes.

People in the polling unit are skeptical of voting on ballot papers that have not been signed by the officials.

Results from other parts of the country are rolling in and you can see the results life on the portal of the Electoral commission.
