I'm Ready To Take Over Governance In Anambra - APC Aspirant Chukwuma

A frontline aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 8th November 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has expressed confidence in securing the party ticket and winning the election.

Chukwuma, who appeared on Arise News Prime Time Show on Thursday evening, said he was fully prepared to take over the leadership of Anambra State.

He said he had demonstrated this three years ago when he embarked on a campaign for a New Anambra APC, which has made the party the most viable and attractive political party in Anambra State today.

Chukwuma highlighted the roles he played in strengthening APC at the grassroots such as providing offices for the party in the 326 wards and also local government areas across the state and even the state secretariat which is opposite the government house in Awka.

“Political party is all about grassroots engagements and movements. So, I felt that without a grassroots engagement, I cannot under a democratic setting, successfully contest for governorship of the state,” he noted.

On criticisms that he is elitist and lacks grassroots appeal, the APC governorship aspirant said he has created employment opportunities to empower people in Anambra State through his investments and has also engaged in grassroots philanthropy in the state.

While admitting that the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the state had suppressed other parties including the APC, he vowed to stop the trend by taking measures to enhance robust engagement of the party at the grassroots in the state.

Chukwuma, who is also the national auditor of APC said he would work hard to stop all forms of blackmail on the party in the state.

According to him, “There is a calculated attempt to keep Anambra State under wrap by non-progressive elements that populate the party called APGA,” but that will not be allowed to continue.

He claimed that some members of APGA visited the presidential villa in Abuja and promised allegiance to the APC but back in Anambra, they did the opposite of what they promised and painted the APC black simply because they wanted to retain power.

He said APGA has outlived its existence in the state and the only way to continue to remain in power is by blackmailing the APC.

Chukwuma, who said he is a founding member of the APC, expressed confidence that the party would conduct a free and fair primary, despite worries that some aspirants who joined the party newly may cause an upset.

“For me, I don’t see any problem with the primaries, the party is prepared to conduct a free and fair primaries. I have been working in the field and I am confident that we are going to have a very free and fair primary,” he stated.

APC has fixed its governorship primaries in the state on 8th April.

The party has received new members who defected from other political parties in recent times. The latest is Valentine Ozigbo, who came from the Labour Party. Ozigbo had contested for governor in the 2021 Anambra election and was defeated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA.

He will join the list of other aspirants, including Chukwuma to contest for the APC governorship ticket ahead of the 8 November poll.
