I sold My Flutterwave Shares In 2021, Deleted Twitter Account Before Story Broke – Co-founder Iyin Aboyeji Reacts

Co-founder of Andela, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji has distanced himself from the current controversy rocking the unicorn fintech company, Flutterwave over fraud and money laundering allegations.

Aboyeji who is a former managing director of Flutterwave, said he had left the fintech company in 2018 and no longer have any stake there.

The Fintech expert said he had made a decision to abandon Twitter about a week earlier, and deactivated his account in the microblogging platform few days before the reports of fraud and money laundering allegations involving Flutterwave emerged.

Aboyeji who disclosed that he had sold his shares in Flutterwave since 2021, wondered why his Twitter account deactivation would be linked to the African unicorn company matter.

Some Twitter users had made some tweets suggesting that Aboyeji deactivated his account because of the Flutterwave incident.

“I made a decision to abandon Twitter a week back and officially deactivated a few days before the story broke,” Aboyeji stated.

“Furthermore, the issue at hand doesn’t concern me because I left Flutterwave in 2018 and I sold my shares in the company in 2021 so it’s absurd to imagine that that would drive my decision,” the digital tech entrepreneur added.

A Kenyan Court reportedly froze 56 bank accounts belonging to Flutterwave over allegations of fraud and money laundering levelled against it by the Assets Recovery Agency in the East African country.
