All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu said his visit to the ruling party’s national secretariat on Wednesday,  was for a family meeting, and to thank all party members for their cooperation.

Tinubu and his running mate in the 2023 general elections, Senator Kashim Shettima had a meeting with the National Working Committee of APC at the party’s national headquarters, Abuja, to fine-tune the party’s presidential campaign structure ahead of the electoral campaign that will commence on September 28 according to INEC guidelines and timetable for the 2023 general elections.

Speaking to newsmen at the secretariat shortly after the meeting, Tinubu denied having any form of internal rifts with party leaders especially the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

He said he only learnt about the alleged cold war between him and Adamu on the pages of newspapers and claimed that it was a mere rumour and speculation orchestrated in some quarters to soothe their narrative.

“I read in some papers about a disagreement between myself and the chairman. That was a very big lie. Those who manufactured the rumour didn’t know that we have come a long way. The big masquerade dance not in the cage but in the market square,” Tinubu stated.

“And that is what Adamu use to be, full of wisdom, we were governors together, before God put us together on this project again. He is going to deliver as the Chairman of the party for me to become the president of Nigeria. And I am very confident of that.

“They can say whatever they want to say, throw all the jabs that they want, we are a party strongly determined to fulfil our dreams of turning Nigeria into a very progressive, highly developed and prosperous country.”

“What we came here today to do is to discuss the campaign which is few days away. When INEC will lift the ban, how do we work out the details, work together, implement all we have been saying,  who are the members of the campaign council, who will not be members, and I beg you not to be angry if you are left out because we are going to give you another responsibility? Not every member here can be a member of the presidential campaign council.”

This was his first visit to the party national secretariat since his nomination during the presidential primary election held in June.

Tinubu thanked all party members for their cooperation so far beginning from the primary where he emerged as the presidential candidate to the unveiling of the running which was done outside the party headquarters, adding “We have come together as a political party and we have taken progressivism as our doctrine. We have to be progressive in our thinking, our did and our objective to serve the country.”
