Amidst widespread mourning, President Bola Tinubu, along with prominent figures both at home and abroad, have extended their condolences to the bereaved families.

Confirming the initiation of talks with the United States, the Nigerian government revealed its engagement with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to offer support for the ongoing investigation.

According to Captain Alex Badeh of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, this collaborative effort aligns with international aviation protocols, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to thorough investigation and transport safety enhancement.

The NTSB, spearheading the investigation, has disclosed progress, including the identification of major components of the crashed helicopter at the accident site.

Board Member Michael Graham underscored the meticulous examination process, highlighting the recovery of electronic devices and onboard equipment for further analysis.

As investigations deepen, Graham emphasized the importance of witness accounts, particularly regarding the weather conditions at the time of the crash. With the wreckage set to be relocated for comprehensive analysis, the NTSB aims to piece together the events leading to the tragedy.

Meanwhile, dignitaries including Governor Dapo Abiodun and Aliko Dangote have paid condolence visits to the families of the deceased, expressing solidarity and offering prayers for solace during this challenging time.

In a separate development, residents of Herbert Wigwe’s hometown in Rivers State have taken to the streets in mourning, demanding thorough investigations and the repatriation of the victims’ remains for burial in Nigeria. Representing the sentiments of the community, protester John Opurum stressed the significance of bringing closure to the grieving families by unraveling the circumstances surrounding the crash and ensuring the return of their loved ones for a final resting place on Nigerian soil.
