Nestle and Guinness led the top gainers’ list on Thursday, December 18, as the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, also known as the stock market, recorded a N331.64 billion increase in its capitalisation.
The stock market capitalisation increased from N95.52 trillion on Wednesday, December 17, to N95.85 trillion, following a 0.34 percent appreciation in the all-share index (ASI).

Over 839.77 million shares were exchanged in 23,211 deals, valued at N32.80 billion, compared to the 5.92 billion shares traded in 25,205 deals, valued at N216.19 billion the day before.
Top five gainers
- Nestle’s share price increased by N178 to rise from N1,780 to N1,958 kobo per share.
- Guinness’ share value grew by N26.30 kobo, from N263.40 kobo to N289.70 kobo per share.
- Alex ended trading at N11.25 kobo per share, from N10.25 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.
- DAAR Communications gained 9.20 percent to end trading at N0.95 kobo, having opened with N0.87 kobo.
- Mecure’s share value was up by N4.60 kobo, after closing at N55 from N50.40 kobo per share.
Top five losers
- LOTUSHAL15’s share price depreciated by N9, dwindling from N90 to N81 per share.
- Stanbic IBTC recorded a N9.80 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N95.20 kobo after opening with N105 per share.
- Lasaco lost N0.25 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N2.50 kobo from N2.75 kobo per share.
- Africa Prudential recorded a N1.20 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N12.40 kobo after opening with N13.60 kobo per share.
- Austin Laz reported a decline of N0.20 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.40 kobo to end trading at N2.20 kobo per share.

- First HoldCo reported that 385.61 million shares valued at N15.54 billion were traded on its floor.
- FCMB recorded 76 million shares valued at N805.33 million.
- Lasaco saw investors trade 43.57 million of its shares valued at N111.81 million.
- Access Holdings recorded 29.59 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N616.82 million.
- Chams reported 24.80 million shares valued at N75.40 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
