Guinness, Ardova Shareholders Report Loss, As Seplat, NAHCO, Others Gain Big

About N142.16 billion was gained in the Nigerian stock market on Wednesday, 1, February 2023, after the bourse’s equity capitalisation rose from N28.99 trillion to N29.13 trillion.

Similarly, the All-Share Index rose from 53,238.67 ASI to 53,499.68 ASI, rising by 261.01 basis points.

Investors traded 200.36 million shares, worth N5.52 billion, in 3,716 deals on Wednesday.

It contrasted with the 250.19 million shares, valued at N5.88 billion, and exchanged in 4,328 deals on Tuesday. 

Top five gainers 

  • Seplat share appreciated by N110 to rise from N1100 to N1219 per share 
  • IMG grew by N0.70kobo, up from N7 to N7.70kobo per share 
  • NNFM ended trading with N8.10kobo from N7.40kobo per share, rising by N0.70kobo. 
  • International Energy Insurance gained 9.33 per cent to end trading at N0.82kobo, having opened with N0.75kobo per share. 
  • NAHCO stock was up by N0.75kobo, closing at N8.85kobo from N8.10kobo per share 

Top five losers 

  • Guinness depreciated by N7, dwindling from N70 to N63 per share. 
  • Ardova also fell by N1.90kobo to end trading at N17.20kobo, after opening with N19.10kobo per share. 
  • Academy followed the same path, losing N0.13kobo after trading hours, to sell at N1.19kobo from N1.32kobo per share. 
  • RT Briscoe reported a decline of 9.68 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N1.32kobo to end trading at N0.28kobo per share. 
  • Cornerstone shares depreciated to N0.55kobo from N0.60kobo, after losing 8.33 per cent during trading hours.  

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Universal Insurance reported 57.78 million shares valued at N11.55 million were traded on its floor   
  • GTCO recorded 16.60 million shares valued at N415.17 million 
  • UBA saw investors trade 11.15 million of its shares valued at N91.37 million 
  • Transcorp recorded 8.79 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N10.91 million 
  • Geregu reported 8.48 million shares valued at N1.63 billion exchanged investors’ hands
