NGX Resumes Trading With N259bn Loss, Records Over N34bn Deals

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) market capitalisation decreased to N154.76 trillion on Wednesday, dropping by N608.05 billion, from Tuesday’s N155.37 trillion.

According to data obtained from the NGX, also known as the stock market, the capitalisation declined after the all-share index (ASI) lost 947.43 basis points.

The all-share index contracted from 242,100.7 ASI to 241,153.27 ASI.

Over 1.23 billion shares were traded in 75,256 deals, worth N49.19 billion, compared to the previous day’s 1 billion shares exchanged in 87,753 deals, valued at N58.06 billion.

Top Five Gainers

  • AIICO’s share price increased by N0.43 kobo, from N4.30 kobo to N4.73 kobo per share.
  • Chemical Allied Product’s share value grew by N17.55 kobo, from N175.65 kobo to N193.20 kobo per share.
  • Zichis’ share appreciated by N2.50 kobo, to end trading at N27.58 kobo, having opened with N25.08.
  • RT Briscoe’s share ended trading at N14.15 kobo per share, from N12.87 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.28 kobo.
  • FTN Cocoa’s share value was up by N0.66 kobo, after closing at N7.31 kobo, from N6.65 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • TAJSUKS1 share price depreciated by N16.97 kobo, dwindling from N97.99 kobo to N81.02 per share.
  • Sunu Assurance recorded a N0.45 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.05, after opening with N4.50 kobo per share.
  • Guinness recorded a N0.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N402.60 kobo, after opening with N447.30 kobo per share.
  • Caverton lost N0.50 kobo in its share price, to sell at N5.50 kobo, down from N6 per share.
  • Fortis Global Insurance reported a decline of 7.69 percent from the previous share price of N1.17 kobo, to end trading at N1.08 per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • CWG reported that 418.85 million shares valued at N8.79 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Chams recorded 74.70 million shares valued at N239.18 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 60.15 million of its shares valued at N1.49 billion.
  • NSLTECH recorded 56.45 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N56.21 million.
  • Dangote Sugar reported that traders exchanged 43.38 million shares valued at N3.82 billion.
