The statement said Governor Yusuf, who spoke at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport before departure, highlighted the good qualities of the deceased nonagenarian.

Yusuf described Dantata as a man with uncommon integrity, who used his successful enterprise and philanthropic gestures to touch many lives.

Also, the federal government is reportedly sending a delegation to the burial. Prime Business Africa gathered that the delegation includes Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; and Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru.

This comes as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted approval for the burial of Dantata in the holy city of Madinah.

The approval was confirmed by his son, Sanusi Dantata, in a statement shared via X (formerly Twitter) account, where he expressed gratitude for the approval and announced that arrangements are underway for the Janazah (funeral prayer), scheduled to take place today at the Holy Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

“May Allah accept the prayers of all well-wishers, forgive him, shower him with His mercy, and grant him Jannatul-Firdaws,” Sanusi Dantata wrote.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away on Saturday, 28 June at the age of 94, was widely respected for his philanthropic legacy, business acumen, and statesmanship, particularly across northern Nigeria.

Dantata’s body will be transported from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, where he died, to Madinah for the funeral rites and internment.

Earlier in a post on Saturday, the son said Aminu Dantata’s long-term wish was to be “laid to rest in the Holy Prophet’s city of Madinah.”
