Gov Otti Partners With Multilateral Organization To Rehabilitate 248.46 Kilometers Of Roads

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, affirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with multilateral organizations in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 248.46 kilometres of roads in the state.

This announcement came during a meeting with a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Finance, headed by Dr. Oyebola Akande, who was assessing the state’s preparedness for the project.

During the meeting, Governor Otti emphasized the significance of the project, highlighting its impact on communities. He stated, “We will raise the necessary funds because it is better to invest now than to incur higher costs later due to rising exchange rates and inflation.”

Dr. Akande commended the Governor’s action in initiating developmental projects within a short period since assuming office. She expressed confidence that Abia State would benefit from participating in this infrastructural development initiative.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Mr. Odinaka Eric Eme, elaborated that the Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development Project (ABSIIDP) aims to enhance socio-economic development and alleviate poverty.

The project includes road reconstruction in Aba and Umuahia, interventions for gully erosion sites, and improvements in the solid waste management system.

Otti was accompanied by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Kenneth Kalu, during the meeting with the Federal Ministry of Finance delegation.

The Governor’s proactive stance and the collaborative effort with the federal ministry signify a step towards addressing infrastructural challenges and fostering development within Abia State.
