Golden Boy Award: Lamine Yamal, Samuel Omorodion Make 20-man List

Spanish teenager and Barcelona right winger, Lamine Yamal, who was impressive at this year Euro 2024, leads the pack of 20-man short list for this year’s Golden Boy award.

Recall that Yamal became the youngest player to score at the Euro Championship at 16 when he delivered an impressive strike in  Spain’s 2-1 defeat of France in the semifinal.

Also in the list is Nigeria born Porto forward, Samuel Omorodion.  The 20-year-old who is eligible to play for either Nigeria or Spain, was part of Spain to the 2024 Summer Olympics, helping the team in their gold medal winning run.

The Golden Boy Award is dedicated to rewarding the best football player under the age of 21 and players can only win the gong once in their life time. England international and Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham is the current holder of the title.

Primebusiness.africa reports that the winner will be announced at a ceremony in Turin on December 17.
