The deployment of CNG vehicles is part of efforts to provide alternative source of fuel following the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor (PMS) also known as petrol leading to high cost of the commodity.

Since Nigeria has large deposits of gas, energy experts have repeatedly averred that if the Federal develops infrastructure for its utilisation, it will go a long way in solving the energy needs because of its cost-effectiveness.

Shettima said the federal government will vigorously pursue the mass deployment of CNG and electric vehicles nationwide.

“We will also vigorously pursue the mass deployment of CNG-powered vehicles and establishment of autogas conversion plants/kits in all states in the short-term.

“We will also deploy electric buses and cars with charging infrastructure across the country.”
