In a statement signed by FOSAD President, Dr Stephen Nwala, and  Secretary , Dr Uzor Ngoladi, the group said the student, Miss Chiamaka Precious Goddy-Mbakwe, “crossed the boundary of decency and human dignity by biting a lecturer for interrupting her Tiktok video recording which is not part of her academic activities.”

FOSAD said that as an organisation dedicated to promoting academic excellence and ethical conduct within the South-east, it strongly condemns any form of violence within educational institutions.

“The assault on a lecturer is not only an affront to the individual involved but also a serious threat to the values that underpin higher education. By taking immediate disciplinary measures, the university has sent a clear message that such misconduct will not be tolerated,” FOSAD stated.

The group urged students to always engage with lecturers and university authorities through dialogue and established grievance-resolution channels rather than resorting to violence.

“Furthermore, we encourage other institutions to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for any actions that undermine the dignity and safety of academic staff.
FOSAD remains committed to fostering a culture of mutual respect, discipline, and academic excellence in universities across the South-east and beyond. We stand in solidarity with the academic community of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and reaffirm our support for policies that ensure a safe and conducive learning environment,” it added.
