Liverpool in the early hours of Friday agreed to a British record transfer for midfielder Moises Caicedo whom Chelsea had chased throughout the transfer window so far.

Brighton signed Caicedo for £4.5m in February 2021 and are on the cusp of making a massive amount of gains.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to face the media in his first press conference of the 2023/2024 Premier League season at 10am and is reportedly keen to speak with the Ecuadorian to convince him into accepting the offer.

Chelsea is expected to react to the transfer move by making a counter offer.

Whichever team wins Caicedo’s signature would need to register him with the Premier League before 12pm on Friday in order for him to be eligible for Sunday’s Premier League opener.

Both sides would faceoff in their first Premier League game of the season at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
