Flick Celebrates Lamine Yamal’s ‘Important’ Barcelona Goal Against Real Madrid

May 11, 2025

Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick, lavished praises on young forward, Lamine Yamal, for his exceptional performance on Sunday evening in the last instalment of the El Clasico of the 2024/2025 season against Real Madrid.

Barcelona had triumphed three times over their bitter league rivals this season including a victory in the final of the Copa del Rey on April 26 before Sunday’s meeting.

In his post match press conference following the 4-3 win over Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Flick was asked his thoughts on the impact that Yamal had on the Barcelona team.

“He’s not a kid. He’s doing good. He has the confidence, the self-confidence, the belief in what he can do. Also, he’s very clever.

“He brought us back (into the match) today with his goal, a very important goal. This, at 17-years-old, it’s really high quality. That is what we want from him.

Barcelona need just two points to be guaranteed winning the La Liga title with a triple slated for Thursday against Espanyol although the confirmation could come 24 hours earlier if Real Madrid drop points in their game against Mallorca.

Asked if the La Liga title is wrapped up, Flick was modest in his assessment.

“No, it’s football. You don’t know what happens, but we’re in a good position. We need (two) more points. This is what we want to make as soon as possible.

The league title will complete a treble for the side having won the Super Copa and the Cops del Rey beating Madrid in both finals

Kylian Mbappe scored a treble in the game for Real Madrid.
