Inter Miami were held to a scoreless draw by Africa’s ‘Club of the Century’ Al Ahly in the opening game of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup early Sunday morning, Nigerian time, reports Prime Business Africa.

The African side played with guts and curtailed the threats of eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, and Luis Suarez.

In a feisty game that saw Inter Miami players booked thrice in the first half, Al Ahly lost the chance to take the lead as Mohamed Trezeguet was denied from the spot kick and the ensuing penalty.

Inter Miami were the more purposeful team in the second half but the impressive El Shanawy produced three impressive saves to deny Lionel Messi and centerback Falcon on the edge of his box.
