Tinubu Appoints Officials Of NCC, NIGCOMSAT, Others

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the prompt settlement of the N342.3 million outstanding electricity bill owed to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

The move follows the reconciliation of accounts between the State House Management and the AEDC, culminating in a revised outstanding amount significantly lower than initially claimed by the electricity distributor.

Contrary to the AEDC’s initial assertion of a N923 million debt, recent correspondence from the AEDC’s management to the State House Permanent Secretary clarified the actual outstanding sum as N342,352,217.46.

The President’s directive comes amid reports of numerous debts owed by various government entities, as highlighted by the recent ten-day notice issued by the AEDC to eighty-six Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for the payment of a staggering N41.7 billion in outstanding dues.

The AEDC’s decision to publicize the details of government entities with outstanding bills underscores the urgency of addressing financial obligations promptly.
