EXCLUSIVE: APC Moves Presidential Primary Election Backwards To May 28-30

Impeccable sources within Nigeria’s Presidency and the Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday night  confirmed  to Prime Business Africa that the ruling party has just moved back its Presidential Primary election to hold  between 28 and May 30, instead of the original date of May  30 to June 1, 2022

The new arrangement  came after Prime Business Africa exclusively reported the APC’s extended deadlines for sale and submission of nomination forms  to Thursday May 12 (sale) and Friday May 13, 2022 (submission).

Prime Business Africa reports that the party has been adjusting its 2023 elections timetable, even as pressure mounts over the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC’s) deadline for primaries to end.

The APC and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have each billions of dollars in sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, triggering uproar and raising concerns over potential worsening of liquidity-induced inflation in the face of widespread  economic  hardship.

This newspaper had also reported exclusively that the two leading parties cumulative targets  could hit N60 billion receipts from sale of for alone.

There is no doubt that the  new adjustments  would put pressure on the ruling party’s many aspirants, a few of who have resigned their appointments with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, following the president’s directive to his Ministers  on Wednesday and subsequent circular  Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha that enlarged the scope to include the Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele and other government appointees.
