Over N860.89 billion was gained in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, on Wednesday, April 22.
The gain raised the stock market’s valuation up to N141.38 trillion, from N140.52 trillion recorded on Tuesday, April 21.

Traders on the NGX exchanged 683.68 million shares in 51,694 deals, worth N36.16 billion, compared to the previous day’s 842.47 million shares traded in 61,617 deals, valued at N44.86 billion.
Top five gainers
- TransExpress’ share price increased by N0.72 kobo, from N7.20 kobo to N7.92 kobo per share.
- Transcorp Hotels’ share value grew by N20.30 kobo, from N203 to N223.30 kobo per share.
- Vitafoam’s share appreciated by N13 to end trading at N143, having opened with N130.
- Chemical and Allied Products ended trading at N110 per share, from N100 per share – indicating an increase of N10.
- UAC Nigeria’s share value was up by N11, after closing at N121 from N110 per share.
Top five losers
- Neimeth share price depreciated by N1, dwindling from N10 to N9 per share.
- Abbey Mortgage Bank recorded a N0.65 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.95 kobo after opening with N6.60 kobo per share.
- Living Trust lost N0.33 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N3.36 kobo from N3.69 kobo per share.
- Associated Bus Company recorded a N0.54 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.70 kobo after opening with N6.24 kobo per share.
- HM Call reported a decline of N0.24 kobo from the previous share price of N3.85 kobo to end trading at N3.61 kobo per share.

- First HoldCo reported that 76.64 million shares valued at N5.78 billion were traded on its floor.
- UBA recorded 55.25 million shares valued at N2.83 billion.
- Access Holdings saw investors trade 52.42 million of its shares valued at N1.62 billion.
- GTCO recorded 37.38 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N4.87 billion.
- Japaul Gold reported that traders exchanged 30.16 million shares valued at N94.35 million.
