Equity Investors Earn N68.76 billion, As Stock Market Recovers

Investors made N68.76 billion on Wednesday, 22 February 2023, after the Nigerian stock market grew by 0.23 per cent.

The gain raised the market capitalisation up to N29.58 trillion from N29.51 trillion.

Similarly, the All-Share Index appreciated by 126.22 basis points, rising from 54,189.31 ASI to 54,315.53 ASI.

It was gathered that 129.91 million shares exchanged investors hands in 2,678 deals on Wednesday, worth N3.92 billion.

This contrasted with the N15.57 billion exchanged on Tuesday for 254.17 million shares in 2,950 deals.

Top five gainers

  • Geregu share appreciated by N22.40kobo to rise from N224 to N246.40kobo per share
  • John Holt grew by N0.14kobo, up from N1.46kobo to N1.60kobo per share
  • LivingTrust ended trading with N2.85kobo from N2.65kobo per share, rising by N0.20kobo.
  • UPL gained N0.10kobo to end trading at N2, having opened with N1.90kobo per share.
  • Veritas Kapital stock was up by 5 per cent, closing with N0.21kobo from N0.20kobo per share

Top five losers

  • McNichols depreciated by 9.84 per cent, dwindling from N0.61kobo to N0.55kobo per share.
  • Wapic also fell by 6.82 to end trading at N0.41kobo, after opening with N0.44kobo per share.
  • Royal Exchange followed the same path, losing 6.67 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.70kobo from N0.75kobo per share.
  • Mutual Benefit reported a decline of 5.88 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.34kobo to end trading at N0.32kobo per share.
  • Chams share depreciated to N0.26kobo from N0.27kobo, after losing 3.70 per cent during trading hours.

  • AIICO reported 16.17 million shares valued at N9.62 million were traded on its floor
  • Zenith Bank recorded 13 million shares valued at N326.13 million
  • GTCO saw investors trade 12.38 million of its shares valued at N310.96 million
  • Transcorp recorded 12.38 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N14.64 million
  • Courtville reported 10.67 million shares, valued at N5.09 million, exchanged investors’ hands
