EPL: Man United Roars From Behind, Beats Brentford To Avoid 44-year-old Unwanted Record

Second half substitute, Scott McTominay was the hero Saturday evening when he scored twice in stoppage time as Manchester United came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford, reports Prime Business Africa.

Eric ten Hag and his troops were staring at a third successive home league defeat for the first time since 1979 after Mathias Jensen’s first-half effort put the away side ahead.

Brazil superstar, Casemiro and goalkeeper Andre Onana were both at faults for the Bees’ goal of the game as the former lost possession of the ball before Jensen pulled a great shot to beat the Cameroonian in goal.

Scotland international McTominay was only brought on with three minutes remaining as the Red Devils desperately searched for a positive turnaround.

McTominay showed excellent control before firing home when Kristoffer Ajer scuffed a clearance inside his own box for the first.

Then, after Anthony Martial had a tame shot saved by Thomas Strakosha, McTominay reacted quickest to a Harry Maguire flick-on and applied the priceless finish.

The home fans, who at different times called for a new ownership at the club, celebrated long after the final whistle as their team headed round on a lap of honour, which was probably a bit extreme but, given the circumstances, totally understandable.

United are ninth on the Premier League table after Saturday’s narrow win.
