EPL: Liverpool Wins Big, 10-man Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal Overcome Prem Foes

August 27, 2022

Raheem Sterling was the star of the show as 10-man Chelsea squeezed a 2-1 victory over Leicester in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea had to endure a difficult 90 minutes due to the early sending off of England midfielder Conor Gallagher for a foul on Harvey Barnes.

Manager Thomas Tuchel was in the stands as he served a touchline ban following his confrontation with Antonio Conte in the opening home match against Tottenham.

Erling Haaland grabbed his first Premier League hat-trick Saturday to inspire Manchester City’s fightback from two goals down to beat Crystal Palace 4-2 on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side were sloppy in the first half at the Etihad Stadium as a John Stones own goal and Joachim Andersen’s textbook header put the Eagles ahead.

Barcelona target Bernardo Silva pulled one back early in the second half before Haaland headed home the winner.

Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz both braces with strikes from Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Fabio Carvalho and a Chris Mepham own goal completing a 9-0 rout of Liverpool over Bournemouth.

Historically it is the fourth time in the Premier League history that a team has won by nine goals. Manchester United beat Ipswich 9-0 in 1995 and Southampton by the same score last year. Leicester also won 9-0 at Southampton in 2019.

Arsenal struggled but kept up their 100% record this season with a comeback win over London rivals Fulham.

Aleksandar Mitrovic gave the visitors the lead in the 34th minute no thanks to a terrible piece of defending by Gabriel but the Gunners quickly responded through captain Martin Odegaard in the 64th minute, before Gabriel scored the winner late on.
