The contest at the Amex Stadium came alive when the Reds went ahead through Harvey Elliot who grabbed his first goal of the season after the duo of Mohamed Salah and Conor Bradley combined to tee him up.

Liverpool created a league record by scoring that goal – becoming just the third team since 1931 (and forest since 2002) to score in every away game of s top flight season.

Brighton levelled just a little after an hour played when Yasin Ayari finished off s flowing move past Allison.

Arne Slot’s men restored their lead deep into the first half through Hungary international Dominik Szobloszlai who scored his sixth league goal from an acute angle.

Salah miscued a shot in the second half when he was clear at goal and a chance to add to the scoreboard was missed by the Egyptian.

Brazilian goalkeeper Allison Becker made some wonderful saves to deny Brighton as Danny Welbeck was set to wheel away in celebration.

Verbruggen was at alert to stop Salah from close range and the latter’s chances of getting the league’s assist record was harmed at that moment.

Kaoru Mitoma then restored parity for his club with a very good effort as he pounced on a rebound.

Slot brought Wataru Endo into the game but did not parade wantaway right back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds have not won in three games since their Premier League status as winners was confirmed.

Liverpool will lift their Premier League trophy next week Sunday after their game against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Arsenal have been confirmed as the runners up but the other European places are up for grab.
