Liverpool lost grip of the top four places in the English Premier League, Monday evening, after a 3-1 defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The loss brought Juergen Klopp’s side’s four-game winning streak to an end and poses a problem for the Reds who are still missing some key players like Diogo Jota and Luiz Diaz.

The five-time European champions, have however bought PSG forward Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate conceded an own goal while Yoane Wissa doubled Brentford’s advantage Monday evening before halftime.

Wissa saw two of his supposed goals ruled out for offsides by VAR in the course of the game while Darwin Nunez struck for Liverpool early in the second half but his goal was also ruled out for offside.

The result of the game takes Brentford up to seventh place in the standings with 26 points after 18 games.

Brentford has taken points away from top clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United but has only lost to Arsenal at home among the top six clubs.

The match day 18 fixtures of the English Premier League will continue on Tuesday evening as well Wednesday and Thursday.

Arsenal remains atop the table with 43 points, seven adrift of current Premier League champions, Manchester City.
