Manager Nuno Espirito Santo while addressing the media in his press conference revealed that the Nigerian will undergo the process in the coming week.

Awoniyi who missed Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Ivory Coast copped the injury before the team’s league game against Luton Town and has missed the last four games for the onetime European champions.

In his absence, New Zealand international, Chris Wood have scored four league goals as they battle to escape relegation after being docked four points by the Premier League for breaching financial fair play rules.

English tabloid, The Telegraph, in its piece disclosed that should Awoniyi be cleared of any impending health issues, he should be back for their next run of games.

The former Union Berlin striker has played in 20 matches in all competitions for his club this season and has scored on six occasions.
