Emirates, Air Peace Activate Interline Agreement to Boost Africa–Global Connectivity

January 26, 2026

Emirates Airline and Air Peace have activated a bilateral interline agreement aimed at deepening air connectivity between Africa, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, in a move expected to enhance passenger convenience and expand market access for both carriers, Prime Business Africa reports.

Under the agreement, passengers can now travel on select routes using a single ticket with through-checked baggage across the two airlines’ networks, simplifying journeys and reducing transfer frictions.

The enhanced partnership expands options for Emirates passengers beyond 13 Nigerian cities already served by Air Peace. New connection points now include Banjul in The Gambia and Dakar in Senegal via Abidjan, as well as Freetown in Sierra Leone and Monrovia in Liberia via Accra.

The additional gateways are designed to widen access to Emirates’ global network while improving international reach for West and Central African travellers.

For Air Peace, the interline agreement enables stronger integration of its regional network into Emirates’ Dubai hub, with onward connections to key destinations including London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted, alongside Lagos, Accra and Abidjan.

The airlines say the arrangement responds to sustained demand for travel between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, offering passengers greater flexibility and choice.

Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said the expanded partnership would strengthen the airline’s African footprint while supporting Nigeria’s aviation and tourism sectors. “Working with strategic partners such as Air Peace allows us to create new opportunities for customers to access Emirates’ world-class products while facilitating tourism and trade across the region,” he said.

Air Peace Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, described the agreement as a milestone in the airline’s strategy to link Africa more efficiently with global markets. He said the partnership combines Air Peace’s regional reach with Emirates’ extensive international network to deliver improved connectivity and a more seamless travel experience for African passengers.

Emirates currently operates a Boeing 777-300ER on the Dubai–Lagos route, featuring First Class, Business Class and Economy cabins, alongside its “ice” inflight entertainment system and regionally inspired dining options. Air Peace operates a fleet of more than 50 aircraft, including Boeing 777s, Boeing 737s and Embraer jets, serving domestic, regional and international routes.

Tickets under the interline arrangement are available through both airlines’ websites and authorised travel agents.

Industry analysts say the agreement underscores a growing trend of partnerships between global and regional carriers as African airlines seek broader market access while international airlines deepen penetration across the continent.
