Elon Musk Reveals Human Brain-Controlled Mouse In Neuralink’s Trial

Elon Musk, the visionary behind ventures like SpaceX and Tesla, took center stage once again as he disclosed updates on Neuralink’s pioneering human trial.

Speaking at an X Spaces event on Monday, Musk shared the milestone achievement: the first participant in Neuralink’s trial could manipulate a computer mouse using their mind, just weeks after the chip implantation surgery.

“Progress is good, the patient seems to have made a full recovery … and can control the mouse, move the mouse around the screen just by thinking,” Musk announced enthusiastically during the event.

Neuralink, Musk’s brain chip startup, received approval last year to initiate studies on the safety and functionality of its chip implants in humans. The success comes after the completion of the first implantation surgery on a human subject. However, while the news is promising, details about the procedure remain sparse.

“We’re trying to get as many button presses as possible from thinking…which is kind of needed if you want to click and drag something,” Musk explained, hinting at the ongoing efforts to expand the capabilities of the brain-computer interface.

Neuralink’s ultimate vision is groundbreaking: connecting human brains directly to computers, potentially transforming the lives of people with disabilities. The initial goal is to enable individuals to control cursors or keyboards using their thoughts alone.
