Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Wednesday submitted his All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, formally declaring his intention to seek a second term in office.
The forms were received by the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, at a brief ceremony witnessed by top APC leaders and key stakeholders from Ekiti.

Nze Duru praised the governor for meeting the deadline set by the National Working Committee (NWC) and assured all aspirants of a free, fair and transparent primary in line with APC guidelines and the Electoral Act 2022. He revealed that a screening committee would soon be constituted to assess the four aspirants who purchased forms for the party’s primary.
The governor’s submission carries political weight as it signals continuity in Ekiti’s governance and sets the stage for what could be a keenly contested APC primary. His candidacy is expected to test the party’s internal cohesion while giving voters a choice between consolidating his ongoing programmes or opting for a new direction.
Accompanying the governor to the event were former Ekiti Governor and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, members of the state executive council, federal and state lawmakers, local government chairmen, traditional rulers and market leaders an endorsement that underscores Oyebanji’s broad support within the party.
Other APC heavyweights present included the party’s Deputy National Chairmen, Hon. Bukar Ali Dalori (North) and Chief Emma Eneukwu (South), as well as the National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and other members of the NWC.
