Eid-ul-Maulid: FG Declares Wednesday, September 27 As Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Maulid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

The announcement, made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, carries a message of tolerance, love, and collaboration.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Minister Tunji-Ojo warmly congratulated Muslims at home and abroad on the auspicious occasion, emphasizing the significance of the values embodied by the Holy Prophet.

In his words, “His admonition to Nigerians is to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified.”

Furthermore, he extended an invitation to all Nigerians, particularly the youth, to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful coexistence irrespective of differences in faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity.

The Minister emphasized the importance of joining hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the collective effort to build a progressive and enviable nation.

“The Minister wishes all Muslim Faithfuls a joyful celebration,” the statement concluded.
