After voting earlier in the day, Akpata had expressed confidence in the election process, describing it as fair and credible. “I voted according to the process, and everything went smoothly. I hope this is the experience of every Edo voter,” he told journalists.

Akpata urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a level playing field throughout the state. “INEC must maintain fairness. All party agents should be present at collation centres to observe the process,” he added.

While acknowledging the presence of security personnel, Akpata raised concerns about their role. “The deployment of security is a good step, but we must question whether they are here for the voters or to serve other interests.”

Despite his defeat at the polling unit, Akpata remains optimistic about the overall results of the Edo election.
