Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended a suspected key arms dealer, Musa Abubakar, believed to be supplying high-caliber weapons to armed groups in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria.
The arrest, which took place on Wednesday, followed precise intelligence that led DSS operatives to a targeted raid on Abubakar’s arms manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area.
A DSS source stated, “The suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-caliber weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.”
Join our WhatsApp ChannelDuring the operation, Abubakar was reportedly apprehended with components for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), chemicals, and other equipment, all of which were seized by the security agency.

This development comes shortly after the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as “Bomboy,” a Kuje Prison escapee linked to attacks on Owo and Deeperlife Church.
The DSS has recorded a series of operational successes in recent months, including the arrest of nine high-profile suspects connected to attacks in Plateau and Benue states.
Among them was Timna Manjol, 46, of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA, Plateau State, who pleaded guilty to two of four charges, including illegal possession of firearms, under case FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
These arrests underscore the DSS’s ongoing commitment to combating terrorism and strengthening national security across the country.
