Don Lemon Expresses No Regrets Following CNN Dismissal

Don Lemon, the former CNN This Morning co-anchor, spoke out about his recent departure from the network at the Time 100 gala, saying that he has no regrets and is looking forward to the future.

While he admitted that his firing was a surprise, Lemon said that he’s already moved on and is focusing on what’s ahead. “I live my life with no regrets and whatever I did, I did, I owned,” he told Extra. “I don’t look back and don’t want to change things in the past … Onward.”

The former Don Lemon Tonight host also shared his plans for the coming months. He said that he’ll be spending the summer on the beach and boat with his family and taking time to relax before figuring out what he wants to do next. “I’m fortunate enough to be in a position where I can do that,” he said. “I have time. I don’t have to rush to another job, even if I want another job.”

Despite the setback, Lemon said that he’s excited for the next chapter of his life and is trying to remain positive. “I think life is short, and whatever life hands you, you have to bob and weave and do it,” he said. “I’m a survivor. I come from strong, sturdy stock in Louisiana and a lot of people are rooting for me and who love me.”

Lemon announced on Twitter earlier this week that he had been terminated by CNN after 17 years with the network. “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” he wrote. He also suggested that there were “larger issues at play” behind his firing.

It’s unclear what those issues might be, but Lemon’s positive attitude suggests that he’s not dwelling on the past. With his experience and talent, it’s likely that he’ll land on his feet in the near future. For now, he’s taking some well-deserved time off to relax and recharge.
