Nigeria has successfully secured $52.88 million in assets linked to former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke from the United States. The announcement was made by Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, during a formal asset agreement signing in Abuja.
Fagbemi stated that the funds would be used for critical development projects. Specifically, $50 million will support rural electrification through the World Bank, while the remaining $2 million will assist the International Institute of Justice in expanding Nigeria’s justice system.

Lateef Fagbemi emphasised that the return of the assets represents a significant milestone in the collaboration between Nigeria and the U.S. to fight corruption and uphold the rule of law. “This event marks a critical step by President Bola Tinubu in addressing corruption,” Fagbemi said, highlighting the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

“The funds should be effectively monitored and utilised to improve the lives of Nigerians,” Mills stated, reinforcing the need for transparency and responsible governance.
