According to the commissioner, investigations revealed that explosives such as dynamites were used on the night the building was burnt down and the experts after an integrity test conducted, advised that it is imperative that the building should be pulled down and rebuilt to a more befitting edifice.

The commissioner further stated that the River State Government has provided an alternative venue for the House of Assembly to conduct their affairs pending the rebuilding of the complex.

Observers linked the demolition exercise to the ongoing political crisis in the state between the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike over control of political structure in the state.
