This strategic adjustment is poised to provide passengers with increased convenience and usher in a new era of travel between the two destinations.
Commencing on October 4, 2023, the airline will introduce a significant shift in its flight schedule, paving the way for a seamless holiday travel season.
Furthermore, from December 16, 2023, to January 14, 2024, the airline is set to soar to new heights by deploying the Airbus A350-900 aircraft on this crucial route.
The focal point of this schedule adjustment is the introduction of an early afternoon departure from Lagos at 1:00 p.m., allowing travelers to arrive in Atlanta at 8:55 p.m. on the same day.
This change marks a noteworthy departure from the previous 11:00 p.m. departure time from Lagos, making it more convenient for passengers. On the return leg, the flight from Atlanta to Lagos will take off at 6:15 p.m., enabling passengers to touch down in Lagos at 11:00 a.m. the following day.
Delta’s commitment to Nigeria as a pivotal destination shines through, with Jimmy Eichelgruen, Delta’s Regional Sales Manager for Africa, underlining the significance of the Lagos-Atlanta route. Atlanta’s status as the world’s premier hub and gateway to the Americas amplifies the importance of this route.
Notably, during the highly anticipated Christmas and New Year period, Delta will enhance its aircraft capacity on the Lagos-Atlanta route by introducing the Airbus A350-900.
This move aims to accommodate the expected surge in holiday travel and offers passengers an opportunity to experience the A350-900, adding an impressive 166 daily seats to the route.
The current aircraft used for this route is the Boeing B767-300ER, with a capacity of 226 seats, while previous flights featured the A330-200, typically accommodating 234 seats and approximately 30% more Delta One suites.
Delta’s evolution from a thrice-weekly service to daily flights on the Lagos-Atlanta route in recent years underscores the robust demand and vital international connectivity it provides.
These strategic adjustments in Delta’s flight schedule and the deployment of the A350-900 signify the airline’s dedication to delivering an enhanced travel experience for passengers on the Lagos-Atlanta route during the upcoming holiday season.
