According to Dangote Sugar, over N378.53 billion was spent as the cost of sales in the first half of this year, exceeding the N277.48 billion expended during the corresponding period in 2024.

Also, gross profit increased by 184.89 percent to N51.67 billion during the period under review, above the N18.13 billion reached in the first half of last year, while other income increased by 13.57 percent year-on-year, from N215.68 million to N244.95 million.

Furthermore, Dangote Sugar recorded a 13.12 percent year-on-year increase in selling and distribution expenses, which grew from N310.31 million to N351.05 million, and administrative expenses rose by 67.20 percent, from N7.75 billion to N12.96 billion.

During the period under review, Dangote Sugar said it recorded N38.09 billion as operating profit, surpassing the N10.32 billion turned in during the first half of last year, indicating an increase of 268.94 percent.

However, Dangote Sugar also saw a decrease of 32.60 percent year-on-year in finance income, which dropped from N4,24 billion to N2,85 billion, and finance cost declined by 72.25 percent, from N234.18 billion to N64.96 billion.

Thus, net finance costs dropped to N62.10 billion in H1 2025, falling below the N229.94 billion recorded in the same period last year, representing an increase of 72.98 percent.

This contributed to the company’s loss before tax dropping by 89.54 percent to N22.10 billion in the first half of this year, compared to the N211.41 billion pretax loss posted in H1 2024.

Dangote Sugar further disclosed that it was levied N2.16 billion for the period between January and June 2025, in contrast to the N67.41 billion tax benefit posted in the first half of last year.

With the tax expense, the sugar producer recorded N24.27 billion as loss after tax (PAT) in H1 2025, compared to the N144 billion post-tax loss posted in H1 2024, indicating a drop of 83.14 percent.
