Dangote Donates N bn To Borno Flood Victims

President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has donated N1.5 billion to victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster.

Dangote made this known during an assessment visit to some of the affected areas in Maiduguri.
Accompanied by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, the Africa richest man met with the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum.

He clarified that N1 billion was given to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Borno State government while an additional N500 million will be donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, making a total of N1.5 billion.

“I just want to clarify, we have this flood committee. NEMA wrote us a letter; so we sat down and approved N1 billion to NEMA to work with the Borno State government.
“On top of that, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will put an additional N500 million, so that’s N1.5 billion. Thank you,” he said in a video clip of the visit shared by TVC News.

The Nasarawa State Governor said his state will also provide some relief materials for the flood victims. He said the state government has procured food items that have already arrived Borno but will be delivered by the Emir of Lafia on Monday.

He applauded Dangote for his contribution to help the flood victims.

Responding, Governor Zulum thanked Dangote for the gesture towards the people of Borno. He said not every rich person has such a magnanimous heart.
