Commonwealth Games 2022: Team Nigeria Wins Second Gold, Bronze In Weightlifting

Nigeria’s Folashade Rafiatu Lawal on Sunday afternoon set a new Commonwealth Games record to win gold in the Women’s 59kg Weightlifting event in Birmingham reports Prime Business Africa.

The gold is Team Nigeria’s second gold medal in two days in the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games after Olarinoye Adenike Adijat on Saturday night won Nigeria’s first gold medal in the competition.

Adijat recorded 92kg in the 55kg women’s snatch event in Weightlifting to achieve the feat.

In the men’s category, weightlifter Edidiong Joseph Umoafia finishes third in the men’s 67kg to clinch bronze medal at the Games.
