Coachella 2023: Burna Boy Confirmed to Perform

Burna Boy is set to perform at this year’s Coachella Music Festival, on April 14th and 21st assisting the global best-selling artist of 2022, Bad Bunny who will be headlining the dates.

Recall that Prime Business Africa reported a rumoured flyer making rounds on the internet last week, the list hinted that Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Tems, and Asake, would perform at year’s Coachella Music Festival.

Burna Boy enjoyed a hugely successful 2022 with the release of his 6th album ‘Love, Damini’. His hit single ‘Last Last’ was one of the biggest Afrobeats songs of 2022 as it enjoyed massive international success.

Burna Boy sparked a sensation when his name was revealed on the schedule, in 2020, but was written in small characters, and Coachella, which has previously hosted African artists on their stage, earned more fame in Nigeria.

2023 Coachella will be headlined by Puetorican megastar Bad Bunny, K-pop girl group Blackpink, and American R&B artist Frank Ocean.

Major artists joining the headliners are Gorillaz, Rosalía, Gorillaz, Björk, Charli XCX, Alex G, and Gorilla. Other notable acts on the Coachella lineup include Boygenius, Christine and the Queens, the Breeders, Noname, Soul Glo, Weyes Blood, Yaeji, Willow, Yung Lean, Yves Tumor, the Comet Is Coming, Snail Mail, Saba, Romy (of the xx), Muna, Metro Boomin, Latto, Idris Elba, Kali Uchis, Ethel Cain, and EarthGang.

Coachella 2022 marked the first time the festival ever took a break between years, due to the postponement and eventual cancellation of the planned 2020 event.

The Grammy-winner is the only Nigerian artist in the lineup as he continues to lead the global exportation of Afrobeats. With the international appeal of ‘Last Last’ and Burna Boy’s growing fame, his 2023 Coachella performance can be expected to be a remarkable one.
